ION Orchard has eight levels of boutiques, restaurants and flagship stores that include: Topman Topshop, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and Cartier. Not that I can afford any of them, but it’s sure nice to look. Why am I spending time on this article? It is because ION has the ultimate, mother of all food courts. The most fantabulous, appetizing food court I’ve ever seen and/or smelled!
Who even knew that this place had been built. Not us. We took the MRT train from Changi Airport, got off at the Orchard Road MRT station and stood there; which way to go in this subterranean labyrinth with signs pointing in all directions.
Singapore’s underground MRT has small shops throughout along with interconnected malls. A person doesn’t ever have to go above ground. Walking along, we saw a sign pointing towards ION food court. I love food and am always happy eating or looking ar food. Singapore is known for Hawker centers and food but we have never seen a food court like ION’s in our life. How does one even decide which vendor to buy from? Let me just say that if you weren’t hungry to begin with, you will be after watching the video. I’ll let the video speak for itself.
ION mall has LED-lit subway entrances at both Orchard MRT Station, and a walkway connects to another station at Wheelock Place. A fast browse through a few shops that would require more money than I have to buy anything, followed by a walk outside to see ION’s iconic architecture, wrap around media and sculptures.
On the MRT for the ride back to Changi Airport, I wondered if anything will ever top the ION Food Court in Singapore. It will be interesting to see the next time we fly through.
