Sights in Beijing, China: Exclusive and New Shopping Malls

The majority of the stores in the Wangfujing area cater to the high-end market. Wangfujing is always crowded with sightseers making their way down the pedestrian only street, window shopping, eating, listening to music and venues. There are several new malls that have recently opened in this area.
Jinbao Place has international brands like Gucci, Burberry and more, but unlike other shopping centers in Beijing, there are no cosmetics outlets. Instead, there are home and lifestyle outlets. There is also a cinema, art center and flagship showrooms of the world’s top automobiles including Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati and more. (Go in and just drool.) The new Regent Hotel, Legendale Hotel and Beijing Hong Kong Jockey Clubhouse are nearby.

If you have the strength and energy after visiting Yashow in Sanlitun, walk over to the Village at Sanlitun. The Village at Sanlitun has 11 buildings filled with stores, restaurants and eight theaters showing the latest movies. Megabox seats 1,700 people!

Qianmen Market is located directly south of Tiananmen Square. This street has a 500-year old history and was renovated for the Olympics. Ancient Qianmen Street was Beijing’s hub of traditional culture and commerce and again resembles its heyday in the 1930′s. It is a pedestrian street with about 100 outlets.
One last destination for those with plenty of time is Raffles City Beijing. An extraordinary six-story shopping center with Sephora, Zara, H&M, big gourmet hall with cuisines from Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand, and a sculpted glass ceiling. For chic shopping, this is where you want to come.

Take the fast and clean Beijing metro or jump into one of the reasonable taxis cruising up and down every street. The metro costs 2 RMB per ride and signs on both sides of the track tell you what station is approaching. We count stops to know when to get off. Lines 1 and 2 include Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Wangfujing and the Lama Temple. A person could spend weeks in Beijing before seeing all the sights, parks and shopping centers. I know there is always something new to see whenever we visit…
