Posada Don Juan in Tilcara, Argentina Review
Posada Don Juan would eventually be tonight’s accommodation. Still following the Train to the Clouds route, we arrived in Tilcara late in the day, starving and freezing (temp. 41 degrees Fahrenheit). When guides said Posada Don Juan was a lengthy and steep walk uphill from town and didn’t serve dinner, we went on a hunt for a place, anyplace that served food now.
An open restaurant had two choices available. A spinach pie with salad or beef empanada. With nothing else open in Tilcara and starving, we ordered one spinach pie, two empanada, a 1/2 bottle of Elementos Malbec wine and dug in. The food was delicious but I have no idea what the restaurant’s name is, sorry.
Guests stay in one of seven little casitas with private terraces with views Tilcara. Surrounded by ample green space, rooms have air conditioning and heat (not that you’ll ever need air conditioning), free Wi-Fi, hot water, and bathrooms. To repeat, Posada Don Juan does not serve dinner.
The posada does serve breakfast at 8:00a. Good bread, cut up fruit, coffee/tea and that’s it. If you don’t mind a steep walk down to town and back up, the Posada Don Juan is charming, recommended and views of Tilcara are stupendous.Sharing is caring:
