Happy New Year, 2010

Dear Readers and Fellow Travelers:

PU–LEASE!! …I can’t believe 2009 has come and gone. For most of us, no big loss with terrible unemployment and economic statistics… the same world problems….and worries about health, children and grandchildren.

On the plus side? (I hope you had at least one plus during 2009.) People are still traveling. They may be downscaling a bit to make travel budgets stretch, but cruise ships are filled and all my “sunbird” friends are packing up for the journey south.

No matter what your household budget may be, try to keep travels plans on the front burner. We’re all getting older and who knows what tomorrow will bring. There is a yearly “country elimination list” because of war, famine, and disasters. Destinations become too exorbitant because of conversion rates…think Euro against the U.S. Dollar… and then factor in money and health. Will you really be able to hike up a mountain, sit on planes for over eight hours and be able to lift a leg up onto a curb forever? Don’t count on it and don’t laugh. We’ve seen it happen.

Travel is an intangible that enriches our life and, I hope, yours. With that in mind, ex-Marine (husband, Steve) and I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2010. May this be a wonderful year filled with good health and prosperity. Happy traveling!
