I received an e-mail from Air France with “such a deal” I had to pass it on to you. If you’ve never visited Cairo or any place in Egypt, it is because:
- You are afraid of terrorist activity or
- Your budget won’t allow.
Let’s address both reasons. Living in a country that unfortunately is shown for drive-by shootings and crime, I, Sheila, laugh in the face of “potential” terrorism. I do not laugh over the prospect of visiting countries where danger is high, and warfare is taking place. The key word here is “potential.” Between 2000-2006, there have been 11 incidents of terrorism resulting in 198 injuries in Egypt. Compare that with 38,648 fatal car crashes in 2006 alone. United States statistics only. Come on and take your very insignificant chance in Egypt.

Lack of money is the more serious of the two in my book but until February 10, 2010, Air France has a great package. Can you believe $899 from New York to Cairo? (This package is available at higher prices through March.) If you live anywhere else other than New York, air fare add-on’s make it a lot more pricey but still…think about it. The $899 price includes:
- Round-trip airfare on Air France to Cairo;
- Arrival Meet and Greet in Cairo;
- Roundtrip private transfers from Cairo Airport to hotel;
- 5-nights accommodations in Cairo including hotel taxes and service charges (different hotels can up the package price);
- American Buffet Breakfast daily; and
- 24 hour customer service assistance
Visit the Great Pyramids, Citadels and Mosques, the fabulous Khan el-Khalili market once known as the Turkish bazaar, and the Egyptian Museum. Those are just a few of Cairo’s many highlight and even though we’ve been there…done it…we’re going to do it again. Yes, ex-Marine and I are going to be visiting Cairo and the Western Desert in March. If you see my curly head (also known as a “walking SOS pad” in Cairo, stop and say hello. Take advantage of this package if you can and prepare to have you breath taken away while standing at the foot of the Great Pyramids. Nothing and I do mean nothing (neither videos, movies nor photographs) can prepare you for the impact.
